How to install the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" ?
Hi, I have windows 7 (Ent.) running on an old IBM Thinkpad (R50p) laptop. My problem is that I can't find the adapter named : "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" I needed to have it in order to enable the laptop as a hotspot. I have searched alot, but can't find a way to install that adapter. My windows is updated to the latest. I have the built-in wireless adapter "Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter" and also "Linksys RangePlus Wireless USB Network Adapter" I have tried uninstalling, removing the drivers, scan for new hardware. Even tried to add it manually from the add hardware wizard, but it is not there. Any ideas?

Hi, Regarding the “Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter”, I would like to share the following with you: Wireless Hosted Network Sample Please note the section “WirelessHostedNetwork”. Just as the document says, to make this feature work, “Hosted Network–capable wireless adapter” is needed. Thanks. I had a lot of problems with that Wifi.I checked everywhere to find help, but there was no solution.Even Sony tech supports could not help me.The only way to fix the problem was reinstalling the operating system.the first reinstalling didn't work but the second time worked.Back up your files and reinstal O/S.

I'm having the same problem. Each time I try to start a hotspot on Connectify I get the blue screen. In my list of network addapters I don't have the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter. I really would like to know how to install that driver on my computer. My wife has a windows 7 laptop, I tried it on her computer and it work.

I finally found out how to uninstall the microsoft wifi miniport adapter its so easy all you do is go to the command prompt as a admin and type this "netsh wlan stop hostednetwork" with no quotes. than type this "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow" also no quotes. at first i thought this was disabling it same as right clicking and disable but actually it disables the service and the microsoft wifi miniport is gone. for some reason its mode gets set to allow instated of disallow and when you uninstall it it reappears and messes up the networking, example, printers, wifi routers, etc. theres no way to uninstall it because it part of windows 7 for sharing wifi. IT WORKS TRY IT. its not a bug in windows 7. wow
